As many of you know the legislative session will end this month. The most critical portion will be the budget for the next fiscal year. With all the cuts public education has received in recent years, it is extremely important to contact your legislators by phone, email or in a personal visit to the capitol letting them know how these cuts have affected your schools. Many of you are desperately trying to make non-crucial cuts to your districts, hoping to minimize any harmful effects to the quality of education provided to your students.
Without new sources of revenue, education will continue on a downward spiral in regard to funding and teacher retention rates. Our lobbyist, Megan Benn, has been hard at work on a daily basis putting the needs of our member districts to the forefront. As Executive Director I have made numerous trips to the capitol to assist her in this effort.
We will continue to work tirelessly on your behalf. As always, feel free to contact me at any time with any concerns or questions.
