2017 Legislature will be in session beginning February 6, 2017. As many of you know it will be a critical year for public education. Bills concerning our public schools will be presented and we will need to be ready to support the ones that are most beneficial for our rural schools. Teacher raises is one of the biggest issues that will hopefully be addressed this session.
As always, I will be emailing member districts when it is important for us to band together and contact legistators during critical voting periods. This website will also contain a link to the bills and an explanation of the contents of each one. The legislation tab will be updated and ready for your use in February.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with your concerns or questions about pieces of legislation. I will be spending much of the session at the capital along with Megan Benn, our lobbyist, trying to keep public education and rural school needs front and center.
